The Family Unit specialises in divorce. It has particular expertise in the financial aspects of divorce and those with company interests or complex issues. The team has specialists in relation to the Private Law relating to children, domestic abuse, co-habitation matters including children and finance, pre-nuptial agreements and living together agreements.
The Children Unit has particular expertise in relation to Public Law matters relating to children. This includes both child care cases, those cases involving the Local Authority, and freestanding children cases involving contact, residence and specific issues.
Sheelagh has a wealth of experience in Child Law and is an accredited Member of the Law Society Children Panel. Only Solicitors with relevant accreditation can represent children in legal proceedings. Sheelagh often represents children in cases where their parents, for some reason, are unable to care for them in the short of longer term, and the local authority becomes involved. This work can involve handling complex medical and psychological issues. She also covers a whole host of other children related issues that often require very sensitive and experienced handling.
