Fiona Brook, Associate at Langleys, said: “As soon as we saw in the York Press that York Cares were seeking out employee teams, we knew we had to take part. Legal work is something that impacts on most people in the community at some point or other, usually at defining moments in their life - whether it’s making a will, facing a divorce or buying a home.
“Therefore we really feel close to the community and take pride in our corporate social responsibility work. And of course, many of us relish the chance to get out from behind our desks for the day. We’re prepared to get our hands dirty!”
Between October 26 and 28, volunteers from across the city will overhaul the grounds at St Nicholas Fields to make them exciting and accessible to the whole community.
Holly Hennell, a spokesperson for York Cares, said: “It’s brilliant that we’re getting fantastic companies like Langleys on board. It’s a chance for people to really take ownership of their green spaces and benefit the community in a real hands-on way.
“We’re expecting about 14 solicitors from Langleys to attend on our team projects on Tuesday 26 October. It helps if you have joinery or gardening skills, but I know lawyers are used to working to tight briefs. We’ll be getting them to make play areas, build benches and paths, plant wildflowers and even create an orchard.”
Other companies confirmed for the voluntary event include FERA, York Marriott Hotel, The Environment Agency, The University of York and Partners PR Agency.
