New Cafe On Historic Steep Hill

31/08/2011
Local woman Nola Hughes has obtained the lease of the second Tea Room on historic Steep Hill, in Lincoln. Steep Hill is currently being judged as one of the best streets in the UK.

Mrs Hughes launched her first Tea Room, Grayz in the Bail, on Gordon Road at the beginning of July this year. With the help of Langleys, she acquired the second premises at 39 Steep Hill, not far from Grayz. The second cafe will be called, Grayz on the Hill.

Mrs. Hughes said: “The Steep Hill property is a much different one to the modern space at Gordon Road; it’s a Grade two listed building.  Langleys acted very swiftly after doing the legal work on my first Tea Room, so it’s all happened very quickly, and it’s very exciting.”

The property is a sixteenth century timber framed building, which was recently featured on Jeremy Clarkson’s Top Gear, and is located in one of the most historic areas of Lincoln near the Cathedral and Castle.  It comes with its own resident ghost, and Mrs Hughes has a team of well known ‘Ghost Busters’ investigating the property on Thursday evening.
