Gemma Whitchurch, family law solicitor at Langleys, will be climbing Machu Picchu in Peru and trekking the Inca Trail this November to raise funds for Lincoln Women’s Aid.
She has already completed the Nottingham Half Marathon in September rising over £500 for the charity since August. She now hopes to raise significantly more by undertaking this difficult challenge.
Lincoln Women’s Aid provides essential support, refuge and advice to women and children who have been affected by domestic abuse.
She said: “I’m really grateful to everyone who has supported me over the last few months and helped to raise a fantastic amount for Lincoln Women’s Aid. Your support has been invaluable and will enable the charity to continue helping women and children.
“Domestic abuse is still a taboo subject. But with around 1 in 4 people suffering from domestic abuse, it’s an issue that must be addressed. I’ve been involved with Lincoln Women’s Aid for nearly 3 years, following my work at Langleys in the Family Law unit. It’s vital that families are offered the support and guidance they need, not just legal advice, to help them in these situations.”
