Langleys Joins With Charity for Road Safety Workshop

14/01/2011
York-based law firm Langleys is joining forces with road safety charity Brake’s Fleet Safety Forum to provide essential advice to business leaders about the use of personal vehicles on company business.

The workshop is part of Brake’s ‘Stop dangerous fleets’ campaign and will provide details of the key legal issues related to managing a ‘grey fleet’.

Jeremy Scott, partner at Langleys, will be providing the legal insight while Andy Price, Motor Fleet Practice Leader at Zurich will be providing advice on risk management.

Jeremy Scott said: “Fleet drivers or people driving for work purposes make up a large proportion of road users. Recent changes to legislation and the way in which it is being enforced by the police and the HSE mean that business owners and directors are responsible for their staff when using vehicles on company business. It is vital they are up-to-date with the changes and understand their responsibilities.”

Kath Hartley of Brake said: “Management of driver safety by companies is vital; vehicles driven for work have the highest mileage on our roads, so their safety is paramount.

Our campaign aims to raise awareness of these facts and it’s great that firms such as Langleys can support us getting the message out to businesses.”

The workshop takes place at Langleys’ York offices on Wednesday 16 February from 12.30pm-4pm and is £80+VAT for subscribers of Brake and £90+VAT for non-subscribers to attend. To book a place contact Brake on 01484 559909 or email admin@brake.org.uk.
