Carol Jessop, a senior member of Langleys’ Family Law team in York, achieved specialist Accreditation through Resolution for her work in protection from domestic abuse. It is the third area of family law she has been recognised for her expertise, having held accreditations in Advanced Financial Provision and Cohabitation Law since 2001.
Mark Day, head of the Family Unit in York, said: “Resolution accreditation involves a rigorous in-depth assessment of a lawyer’s legal knowledge and on-going re-assessment. It’s a rock solid badge for a lawyer, signifying high standards and specialist expertise.”
Resolution is the only training body in the UK that promotes good practice and accredits mediators in England and Wales. It also campaigns for improvements to the family justice system, believing in a non-confrontational approach to family law.
Carol Jessop said: “In Family Law, abiding by Resolution’s code of practice is a vote of confidence for clients who are often in very difficult, sensitive and upsetting situations, whether it is child custody, divorce or domestic abuse issues. At Langleys, the Family Law unit prides itself on its strength and expertise in this often difficult field.”

Mark Day and his colleague Sheelagh Coles, a senior associate who heads the Child Law department in York, have both been recognised as leaders in their field by Chambers & Partners.
Child Law specialists, Sheelagh Coles and Jennifer Grant, are also Law Society Children Panel Members with expertise in representing children and their parents within the care system.
