FAQs

Q. How many training contract places do you have?

A.
We usually have six places for our training contract programme each year; there are three training contracts available in York and three in Lincoln.

Q. What is the deadline of when I need to apply for a training contract by?

A. You need to have completed your application by the 31st December.

Q. Where will I be based during my training contract?

A. You could be working in our offices in either York or Lincoln. The York offices are in a prominent City centre location and our office in Lincoln is an impressive state of the art new building. We do ask your preference on location, whether you would consider relocating and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Q. Do you have a work placement scheme?

A. Yes, we usually offer a 3 day work placement during the summer. Those applying or accepted on the work placement scheme should apply for a training contract to start two years later than the work placement i.e. those who apply for a work placement in 2010 should apply for a training contract to commence in 2012.

Q. Will I be paid during my work placement?

A. No, unfortunately we don't pay you for your 3 days work placement. Working in a law firm for a few days is great experience for you and a worthwhile opportunity for you to gain an understanding of the firm and the types of work we are involved in. It gives you a real taster of working at Langleys.

Q. Can I still apply for a training contract place even if I don't get a place on the Langleys work scheme?

A. Yes, due to the limited numbers of spaces we appreciate that a lot of people will not unfortunately be offered a place for our vacation scheme but applications for a training contract are open to everyone.

Q. Can I still apply for a training contract if I didn't study law at University?

A. We welcome applications from candidates with degrees in all types of disciplines from a variety of Universities. You do need to have completed your GDL or LPC before you start working with us though.
