Langleys seeks to make a positive difference in the community and to support local organisations. We sponsor and raise money for local events along with organising and taking part in fund raising charity events such as the Three Peaks Challenge, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, Great North Run and the London Marathon, as well as smaller initiatives such as cake days and quiz nights.
Langleys are dedicated to promoting a proactive approach to the environment, recognising the many ways our activities can have an impact. We acknowledge our environmental responsibility and are committed to reducing carbon emissions.
Our Olympic House office in Lincoln was purposely designed to reduce any impact on the environment and was constructed using the steel frame and roof of the site's previous building. In addition to this, with a view to reducing energy wastage, the design incorporated measures to reduce solar glare. We also have an ozone friendly air-conditioning system and a lighting system controlled by movement sensors. We aim to carry out a similar project when it comes to re-housing our York office in the future.
Langleys is also working with contractors and suppliers to improve the environmental impact of our products and services in the following ways:
- We use paper that utilises fibre certified by the FSC.
- We utilise duplex printing on copiers, have shared office printers and discourage unnecessary printing to help reduce paper.
- We actively encourage the use of electronic communication wherever possible.
- We continue to invest heavily in electronic case plans with a view to ultimately dispensing with paper files completely.
- We are involved in several recycling schemes including recycled PC's, toner cartridges, mobile phones and shredded paper.
Finally, whilst Langleys practice from two offices, the firm encourages everyone to reduce petrol consumption through the use of a video link facility for meetings, training and conferences and shared journeys using a company car
