Mark is a Partner and Head of the Family Unit in York. He has specialised only in Family Law and Divorce since qualification in 1995 and has practised in this area for over 16 years. He is a qualified Family Mediator and Collaborative Lawyer. He currently chairs the Collaborative Law Group in York.
Mark’s speciality is in resolving the financial aspects of separation and divorce. He deals almost exclusively with complex and high value cases. He is an accredited Specialist with Resolution in cases involving finances and/or children. He is a former Regional Chair of the National Organisation of Specialist Family Lawyers, “Resolution” and currently has a position on one of the National Sub-Committee’s.
Mark’s aim is to offer sympathetic and pragmatic advice. Mark is led by his client’s objectives. Some cases can be resolved through negotiation, Collaborative Law or Mediation whilst others need the involvement of the Court. Mark offers his clients the opportunity to make a truly informed decision about what process they feel will benefit them and their family.
Mark regularly lectures and gives presentations on matters of Family Law. He has had various articles published and writes frequently for newspapers. He has been asked to comment on Family Law issues by the BBC and other organisations.
Mark regards his key personal strengths as having an ability to listen, good judgement, a sharp analytical mind and a genuine ability to think outside the box. Above all however, he benefits from “bags” of common sense.
Mark is married with 3 children.
