David Thompson - Managing Partner and Divisional Head, Insurance Law
As Managing Partner, David is responsible for the development and implementation of the strategic direction of the firm with particular responsibility for financial control and planning.
As head of Insurance Division, David has considerable experience acting for insurance companies and liability agencies.
David has extensive knowledge in all aspects of insurance law and specialist areas include catastrophic injury claims and complicated multi party employers' liability claims.

Stephen Baylis - Partner, Finance Law
Stephen, finance law partner, holds an Insolvency Practitioner's licence. He specialises in restructuring, insolvency and banking related matters. The agricultural sector is a particular area of expertise.
Before joining Langleys, Stephen was a partner at Hammonds.

Helen Brown - Partner and Head of the Public Sector Unit
Helen is the Deputy Head of the Insurance Law Division and heads up Langleys’ Public Sector Unit. Helen has significant experience in dealing with all types of EL/PL with particular emphasis on stress, bullying and harassment, sexual, mental, physical and emotional abuse claims and fraud claims. Helen acts for one of the largest mental health hospitals in the UK defending their liability claims. Helen is an accomplished public speaker and is well known on the national and local ALARM circuit

Fiona Buckton - Partner, Private Client
Fiona, a private client partner and a graduate of the University of York, joined Langleys from Munby and Scott. Fiona deals with all private client matters, particularly property.
She also advises on wills and inheritance tax.

John Conlon - Partner, Children Law
John, partner and head of Childrens Law, specialises in both public and private law proceedings relating to children.

Mark Day - Partner, Family (York)
Mark is a Partner and head of the Family Unit in York. He has specialised in family law since qualifying in 1995. He has also qualified as a Family Mediator and as a Collaborative Lawyer. His specialism is in resolving the financial aspects of separation and in advising about children.
He is an Accredited Specialist with Resolution in cases involving Finances and/or Children. He is also a former Regional Chair of the National Family Lawyers organisation Resolution.
Huw Edwards - Partner, Insurance Law
Huw is the Head of Langleys’ Motor Unit which deals with catastrophic/multi track work as well as the fast track/small claims team within the Division. Huw has an excellent reputation for dealing with catastrophic and serious injury claims.

Andrew Fearn - Partner, Private Client
Andrew, a private client partner, heads the firm's Private Law Division. He is a Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and has a wealth of experience in advising high net worth clients, farmers and land owners. He also deals with agricultural property issues especially tenancies held under the Agricultural Holdings Act 1986. Andrew is also a Court of Protection Panel Deputy.

Robin Foyster - Conveyancing, Head of Legal Team, Compliance
Robin, partner and head of Conveyancing legal team, has many years' experience in dealing with Conveyancing matters and is responsible for the compliance and complaints within the division.

David Garfitt - Partner, Private Client
David, a private client partner and member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, advises in relation to all aspects of private client work particularly inheritance tax planning, trusts and wills for business and agricultural clients.
David also deals with probate and the administration of complex estates with related property matters.

Stuart Hanley - Partner, Claimant Personal Injury and Medical Negligence
Stuart, claimant personal injury and medical negligence partner, deals with all types of claims particularly those involving children. He also provides advice on birth defect/cerebral palsy claims.
Stuart is an accredited member of both the Law Society's Medical Negligence and Personal Injury Panels, and a member of the AvMA Specialist Clinical Negligence Panel.

Kate Hindmarch - Partner, Employment
Kate, employment partner, has broad experience of all areas of employment law having run her own specialist law firm prior to joining Langleys. She is an experienced tribunal advocate and regularly presents seminars on employment issues.
Kate is a former Chair of Women in Newark and is Chair of the Working Group for Business Women's Link (Lincolnshire & Rutland).
Kate is also Lincolnshire Echo Business Person of the Year 2008.

Rebecca Howitt - Partner, Insurance
Rebecca is Head of the Division’s Health and Safety Representation Unit. Her work includes successfully defending clients in corporate and gross negligence, manslaughter, representation at police and HSE interviews under caution, representing clients at inquests, advising directors and senior personnel on health and safety policies/risk management issues. Rebecca also has expertise in dealing with a wide range of employers’ liability claims.

Will Jones - Partner, Insurance Law
Will was recently appointed a partner in 2009 and has an excellent reputation for dealing with PL and EL claims which have a particular focus on interpretation of policy wording and indemnity disputes. Will also is the editor of Langleys’ Insurance Division’s newsletter – Insurance Matters.

Andy Kay - Partner, Company Commercial
Andy, corporate partner and head of the Commercial Division, has a wide range of experience of corporate and commercial work, in particular advising on acquisitions and disposals for public and private companies, MBOs and MBIs.
Prior to joining Langleys, Andy gained 20 years' company commercial experience in a number of major firms, most latterly as a partner at Addleshaw Goddard.
Roger Mackle - Partner, Insurance Law
Roger manages the Fast Track/Small Claims Motor Team as well as handling an extensive portfolio of mainly motor work ranging from the catastrophic through to the lower level multi track type claims. Roger also has a particular special interest in education and dyslexia claims.

Jonathan Mortimer - Partner, Dispute Resolution

Kate Saunders - Partner, Family (Lincoln)
Kate Saunders qualified in 1983 and has practised in Family Law ever since. She has a particular interest in divorce and the business client and cases involving trusts and inherited assets. In 1991 Kate became a member of the Law Society Children Panel and has regularly been appointed to represent children in Public Law proceedings.
In 1999 Kate trained as a mediator and in 2008 she trained as a collaborative lawyer to enhance her ability to offer clients a non traditional approach

Giles Scott - Partner, Private Client
Giles, a private client partner, was formerly a fourth generation solicitor in the family firm of Munby & Scott, where he developed expertise in private client and property matters, including the establishment of a charity funded by the National Heritage Memorial Fund. He continues to act for clients engaged in the acquisition of agricultural land, deals with farming agreements and is a solicitor trustee to a number of Yorkshire family estates and business involved with agriculture.

Roger Taylor - Partner, Notary Public
Roger provides notorial services to the firm's clients in both offices and across the region. One of the small number of public notaries in England and Wales, Roger has been a Notary, by examination, since 1992.
Notaries work with the authentication and legalisation of legal trading documentation for use in other jurisdictions, including scotland.
